Raw Wood, Other Woods & Plaster Boards
Before painting new, plain wood and plaster boards, we always recommend giving your surface a light sand using a low grade sandpaper. A 120 grade sandpaper will give you an ultra smooth finish and will prepare your surface for painting.
You do not need to prime your surface before painting, but if the wood has a dye or wood knots, then we do recommend using our Cornish Mineral Paint Stain Block or our primers. This will ensure that any stains or knots do not come through your final finish. Always apply the stain block/primer after sanding and then paint away.
Already Painted Surfaces
If your project has been painted before, then it is vital to ensure your project is free from any flaking paint and grime.
First give your project a good clean with Cornish Mineral Paint’s BioClean and once dried, sand the surface with a 120 grade sandpaper, to smooth down your surface and then clean once more to remove any dust.

Cornish Mineral Paint’s new primer is water-based, stain blocker and can be used on all woods and metals. Cornish Mineral Paint will also leave you with a minimal brush-stroke free finish as our formula is self-levelling, so if the previous paint is chunky, with visible brushstrokes you will want to sand these down, or remove the paint all together with our Biostrip to make sure your left with a great finish.

Painting MDF & IKEA Furniture is easy to paint and be transformed leaving you with a fabulous finish.

Transforming your outdated wall tiles has never been easier with Cornish Mineral Paint.
First you will need to clean your tiles using Cornish Mineral Paints BioClean. Once cleaned and dried you can start painting your tiles.
''There is no need for any undercoat or primer, but you can use them if you would like.''
Please allow four hours in-between coats of Cornish Mineral Paint and make sure the paint can cure for seven days to fully harden.
If the tiles are in a higher traffic area such as a Kitchen, we do recommend applying a coat of our 'Proper Job' Varnish for extra protection.
First you will need to clean your tiles using Cornish Mineral Paints BioClean. Once cleaned and dried you can start painting your tiles.
